Our elegant bath houses feature two individually prepared cushioned jacuzzi tubs. All bath treatments include a facial mask and blanket wrap with light foot massage. We encourage our clients to let us know their heat preference for their bath treatment. For those choosing multiple days of treatment in the European style of spa therapy, we encourage 24 hour periods between treatments for optimum benefit. These bath therapies are not recommended for pregnant women and those with fragile health, although accomodations can be made for a milder bath experience.

Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs The Baths Both the men and women's spa at Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort offer many varied spa treatments - Mud Baths, Mineral Water Whirlpool Tubs, Mineral Steam Rooms, Blanket Wraps and Massages of varied styles. Services are provided in adjacent men's and woman's bathing areas. The bath personnel are most attentive to your every need and are dedicated to making your visit a relaxing one in our recently renewed bathing areas. "The Works" was originally coined by Dr. Wilkinson and for $3.50 a guest was treated to everything the spa could offer —mud bath, mineral bath, steam room, blanket wrap and massage. Today, only the price has changed. Clients are greeted at the front desk and an attendant guides them through the treatments. First is the mud bath, a soothing "float" in volcanic ash and peat moss. Then a shower, a soak in a bubbling mineral bath, and a quiet time in the steam room. The next treat is a blanket wrap: large cotton blanket that envelopes guests like a cocoon for a quiet and thoroughly peaceful interlude. A massage completes "The Works", leaving guests feeling pampered and completely relaxed. Skin Care Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Spring Resort has always been a benchmark for professional and therapeutic body care because of the standards and integrity of both John ("Doc") and Edy Wilkinson. In keeping that family tradition, the next generation of Wilkinsons has developed a skin care salon that offers facial treatments that are both rejuvenating and therapeutic. Guests are treated to a fine line of skin care products, including Dr. Wilkinson's own label, Terraceuticals™, to enhance guests' natural beauty. Treatments are given in a comfortable and completely private setting next to the spa. Entering its 57th year, Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort is a wine country icon. Dr. Wilkinson's was founded in 1952 by John "Doc" and Edy Wilkinson. Doc was interested in alternative health and relaxation from the days of his early childhood in the San Joaquin Valley of California. He studied chiropractic, visited Calistoga, and fell in love with the healing qualities that Calistoga's natural assets provided. Since Doc and Edy Wilkinson opened the resort, the Wilkinson family has continued to upgrade, without risking the genuine and real qualities of their original vision. Although both founders have passed away, their children Carolynne and Mark continue to maintain the unique quality traditions of their parents and have been co-managers of the resort for over 25 years. The Mud Calistoga is blessed with pure volcanic ash and vibrantly mineralized hot springs water. Doc figured out how to combine these two wonderful elements with vital Canadian peat to make the mud treatment as effective as possible. Designed for maximum heat penetration and buoyancy, the tried and true formula has long been recognized as Calistoga's finest. While the volcanic ash cleanses and smoothes your skin, the peat buoys you up and allows the mineral water's soothing heat to penetrate more deeply. Natural lavender aromas from the Napa Valley help to relax both the body and mind. The mud bath at Dr. Wilkinson's is the real and time-honored thing. Our long serving staff greets you and brings you to a changing area where you are provided a comfortable waffle weave robe and then escorted to the mud bath. You will enjoy the attentive placement of cool cucumber slices over your eyes, a unique mud masque for your face, a cooling cloth for your forehead, and a sip of pure chilled mineral spring water. After 10-12 minutes, your attendant guides you gently to another shower and then into a bubbling, aromatic mineral tub bath to relax and further unwind...then enjoy the natural mineral steam room for as long or as little as you like. A blanket wrap follows--swaddled in all-natural fresh cotton blankets, a nap and slow cool down feel perfectly comforting after the various baths. Follow the mud treatment with an excellent thirty- or sixty-minute massage (not 25 or 50 minutes as at many other spas). Our expert staff is trained in a variety of bodywork methods.
